When I surrender someone, it's almost always from behind. I walk up with my gun pointed at him/her/them and say "You're out". If they bring a gun up I shoot them before they shoot me. So far, it's worked well.

I get annoyed when that happens. I rushed a kid a while back, ran past him and yelled "surrender!". He shot at me while I was running towards him, but missed every shot. Of course, I kept running towards him, tapped him on the shoulder and said "Your out! Surrender!", and ran to another bunker behind him. The ref walked up and pulled me out because he "saw me first and returned fire". Huh, I guess I'll just be mean and bunker the kids next time

Going to test this before actually trying it. Everyone seems to be having quite a bit of luck with it.

I'll see if the wife finds it effective.

Surrender!

Touch elimination, not surrender.

When surrendering opponents use a "command voice" and tell them to surrender instead of asking them to surrender.

I think as long as surrenders are fully optional the person who was offered the surrender should have to yell "you'll never take me alive!" before they fire at the person trying to get them to surrender.
At least that's what I do.

There is no difference in "touch elimination" and "surrendering" someone as long as you say "surrender". We have a 10 foot rule, so the kid was out.

Awesome. I'm going to do that someday.
Reminds me a Carter's "12 gram stock class day" video haha

PAINTBALL CRAZY - YouTube

If the link works, about 5min 20 sec in - as you can see we pay lots of attention to the safety brief about not shooting from close than 10 foot. I'm the one hanging about at the back with the A5, shin pads and purple flex 7. (few years back that was).

This has never been a problem for me, save a handful of scenarios when a person was in clear breech of the rules. My personal policy is to offer the surrender rule early and often. Anytime I'm a bunker away or as close as 25' (the field's official zone is 15') I make it clear my intention is to come get them and their only alternative is to leave the game.

I guess the key is that I make any potential surrendering/bunkering victim aware of the situation, and by removing the element of surprise it really helps to clear up any confusion. Of course this may not work as well with other people who take a sneakier, stealthier approach to the game, but it fits into my hyper-agressive, always advancing play style well.
