"...how much did that cost?"

And its sister-question:

"What is that?"

whilst playing pump "what, cant you afford a new gun?"

Not paintball related but anytime someone asks "did you watch xyz show last night?" And I reply sorry, I don't own a tv, everytime, without fail, they offer me their spare set till I can afford to buy a new one and the inevitable "so, no tv? What do you do then?" <Facepalm>

I do seem to get the "how much does that cost" comment from people who don't play. I usually explain that it depends on how much you shoot and if you own your own equipment or not.

I've gotten the "Do you have a Tippmann" question quite a bit.

"Why would you want to use a pump"

I generally don't engage in paintball conversations with people who don't play. I did have a funny one with a lady I work with a few weeks ago though.

"what are you doing this weekend"

"I'm going to play paintball on Sunday"

"that sounds fun, my son said he wants to try it"

We went on for a little then about her son, how much it costs, and some fields close to her.

Then

"Who are you going to play with"

"some people I know from the Internet"

"are you crazy, you're going somewhere with complete strangers. What if they kill you and throw you in the trunk and steal your stuff"

"they aren't strangers, I know them and have played with them before. Well most of them"

"no they are strangers then, you don't actually know them. Do you even know their names"

"I know most of their names, some I don't know their real names. Only the names they use on the internet"

This went on for a whe with me laughing most of the time and telling her the first time I meet them. Which totally mortified her because I went to a strangers house, then got in their car and drive to a different state. The conversation ended with her telling me that if I don't come to work tomorrow she will be sick and worry about me and come a hunt down the Internet people.
So I did the best thing I could think of. Took a picture of the inside of my trunk and texted it to her with the word "HELP" and didn't respond to her many texts.

I few other good ones I just thought of.

"So the more you pump it, that faster is shoots?"

This isn't a question. But I saw this on facebook. "Dude you don't know what you're talking about, I used to play for the All Americans". When I asked him what gun he had, he said. "Tippmann 98 custom full auto Army edition".

"I own an angel tippmann, yeah I sent my tippmann into angel and they made it into an angel, cost me $2000".

I don't talk about paintball at my church often cause I always get this.

"Wow what a waste of money"

"Why would you spend $100 to play when you could tithe or put it in the bank"

When they see my bruises. "Why do you play if you get hurt like that?" Then I respond with. "It's totally worth it".

I love it when someone walks up to you and you have no idea who they are and they start talking shop about guns like you are best friends.

"Hey man, nice gun you got there" - noob

"thanks" - me

"yeah, i invested in this 20 inch, rifled sniper barrel and it really makes a difference" - noob

"oh yeah? How so?" - me

"Well, it shoots really strait and the range is much further, I get way more kills"- noob

(facepalm) - me

That all depends on the point of reference....

Not a question but more of a statement I used to get when I was playing with electro's (early 2000's).
"That guy with the fancy gun shoots harder!"
