I got mine pretty much the same way just this week... but whatever's in the barrel appears to just be dust. I wasn't too impressed with the packing but nothing was damaged either.

With a barrel as strong and light as a Deadlywind... it's going to be nearly impossible to damage during shipping. I can understand that the consumer might not be happy to have their barrel rattling around, but from an engineering perspective -- additional packaging is overkill. Lo

All of my Lacpo barrels have been shipped the same way, I don't really see an issue.

I ship a lot of barrels. It doesn't take anything too crazy to package them safely. I normally wrap them in a good amount of newspaper and toss them in a big brown envelope. I've sent 500+ barrels out in my time and I don't think I've ever had a barrel show up damaged. Newspaper is free too, so there really is no reason not to.

during the honing process and polishing process there is a lot of oil, grit, residue that can get into the barrel - some places clean it up others dont. I would be more pissed if I cleaned it up and it was still rough or ugly AFTER cleaning it up. in the grand scheme of things after material costs are we really paying a lot to warrant the extra polish beforehand? perhaps? dunno - bottom line for me is if I get it and all it takes is 2 minutes and a squeegee - I am fine with that =) |
