someone hurt his eye paintballing today.

but he had his mask on so i don't know what the lesson is...

we think shrapnel got through the vents above the lens and landed on his blinkers.

he went to the hospital just in case.

it was his first day.

apparently his girlfriend did it.

i think i'll cover up those vents with tape now though.

from folks who talked to the guy while waiting for the ride to the docs

apparently the first ball from over the top hit the mask pushing it just a bit for the 2nd ball to get in. 2nd ball left only a large shred visibly and some paint but reportedly hit the edge of the eye socket.

When I first saw him he was keeping his eye closed and had only the shell visible and some paint - no cuts no bruise no visible mark so it LOOKED like it shredded at the top and went in - but apparently it was a freak accident case of two balls hitting the wrong place at the wrong time.

/prayer for a full and speedy recovery

in lighter news - Whee McGee managed a full day without throwing out his knee.
Matteekay managed to break paint in 2 markers
Suma got to enjoy a prototype marker and had a lotta <3 for it
and I got to have fun with both the bruiser and Gargy #33

hopefully better news on the fellah over the next week or so.

/salute

honestly dont remember - I know they werent JT's tho

whatever Pendleton is using for rental masks I think /shrug

The sad irony was it was a first timer, bad luck, wrong place, wrong choice continuing the run in without hollering he was hit - his girl and the other guy there were asking if he was gone loud enough for me to hear on the sideline - he answered late and from what we heard at the end of the day still wanted to come back - hopefully he makes a full recovery.

hard to guess at the moment - eye's are tricky....

I heard that his eye is bloody, 8 balled is the term that was used. Apparently the ball hit him juuuust on the inside of the eye, in the area between the nose and eye. He should be okay...I hope. I feel so bad for the guy

Also, if memory serves it was either a Tippmann mask or an Annex mask. They're the same thing. I would assume it was on too loose or something

It looks like an Invert Helix, they're pretty common as a rental mask.

Well any sport will have its accidents, so Id say were all lucky given the relative infrequency these things happen in our sport. Hope he recovers quickly and comes back.
