Also, like you said, there were some improvements to the Trracer line across its lifetime (early ones even had traditional full-length powertubes). I've seen Trracers with and without the anti-double feed and other upgrades, but all the Mavericks I've seen had them.

looks like spymongoose is spot on. Brian Sullivan (associated with PMI in later patents) patented a design in ~92 that should be the Trracer (Pat# 5257614, continued in Pat# 5339791). It references an earlier design which looks a lot like a razorback (Pat# 4936282).

Perhaps y'all misunderstand me.
The arrangement was that Air Concept Industries manufactured the Trracer for PMI, just as Benjamin/Sheridan manufactured the VM-68 for them.
I'm fairly certain that the Trracer came before the Maverick, but all the guns were made by ACI.
I have no idea who designed any of them, but was there really anything unique about the Razorback among Nelson clones?

I think my mistake is that in my initial post is that I said NPS- I meant PMI.
This was long, long before NPS/KEE acquired PMI.

This thread is great, the f4 was my first marker too. Great marker but I hated the fact that the bolt for the bottom line was threaded into the plastic GOP mount and eventually stripped out necessitating that I run the tank vertically.

The gripframe from the raptor is recycled from the rainmaker, and the Raptor body saw some significant changes. F-4's share a barrel threading with trracers, and raptor barrels are probably the oddest threading in the universe. The ball detente on the f4 is a wire one, I think the one one the raptor is a spyder nubbin. But knowing that much, and that the internals are generally swappable, should keep your f4 chuffing till you run out of raptors.

EDIT : I keep a raptor around just to feed my F2

I didn't own any ACI 'guns but their elbows are amazing. I have a few extras I picked up and still use them all the time.

Darn you guys and bringing up ACI, reminded me of those sweet graffiti barrels they used to make, I would love to find one of the "American flag" barrels in AC threaded to freak bore for my sniper....

I also used to always admire the F4 but never bought one

My memory on this is a touch fuzzy, cause of how very briefly they were came and dissapeared, is that they had a kit that plugged into the rear of the f4 and the budget version (cant recall what the little f4 was called anymore - the gryphon!) that was essentially a ram that ran the bolt/hammer back and forth. There was a LPR that replaced the valve cap, and the electronics and a pneu switch in the grip. I never had one, and the kits went into obscurity quickly. If memory serves the self contained electro grip frames like the center flag and later on factory ones were considered to be better.

Those kits didn't circulate for very long, and I never had first hand experience with them. I most certainly wouldnt want to try and track one down nowadays, even for the rarity.
