It sounds like that kid just wanted attention/acknowledgement that he surrendered someone. i think it's nice to have the option, i take friends along a lot and some would prolly never play again if they get lit from behind. Besides it helps me save paint lol

On one of the boards on my field that is the rule for it. Its called Attack and Defend. I think the Refs play a HUGE role in monitoring and upholding surrender laws/plays. If a Ref isnt there to enforce that tower surrender rule... absolutely no-one is going to surrender... not an entire team anyway...

They don't want people trying to run up stairs and getting lit up from above.

I vary rarely have a problem when I shot for the hard points when you are ~10 feet away and I shoot you in the pack you know you got hit. Besides I always break out the teacher voice and say, "You're Out" and if those two things fail shoot again and repeat.

With this weekend I would have not have shot anyways, I was trying to move up and around them but didn't realized that it was 4 on 1 so I was crawling my dumb *** up the snake wonder what I just stepped in. All 3 or 4 of them were swarmed on me.

When I sneak up on people while crawling I'm always grateful they actually surrender since they don't have to. I always say thank you for accepting my surrender option. If they make any sudden moves or turn quickly I shoot them.

Shooting for the pack usually gives you a better chance of getting a break and less chance of getting bonus balled later in the day.

Most fields I play at Surrender is an option - if the guy spins shoot him /shrug
as to EXPECTING thanks /shrug go figure

personally if there is a clean option to give the guy a chance to surrender I will give him that chance - if theres multiple people there I will shoot for hard surfaces if I can. Had a guy sneak up to a window with clean shots on 2 kids and myself - I was covering the outer wall corner and the kids were supposed to be watching the window - shooter double tapped my arm one of the kids and then got shot out finally by the last kid who realized oops I was supposed to be covering my window....

I wasnt mad at all - I knew the shooter had to shoot when theres multiple targets.

all boils down to what the rules of the field are and what you choose to do /shrug

Usually if I have someone dead to rights like that I'll put one in thier foot. They can feel that but it does't hurt that bad, and they can see it clearly. The only time I really ask for a surrender option is on new players where I work up to their bunker. If I'm on the other side of a piece of plywood from them and let them know I'm going to come for them if they don't surrender they usually comply.

I always go with the feet too. I feel like a dick if I shoot packs and break tubes. I also don't care if I get "overshot" from a foot away. I figured I earned it.

Why would surrenders annoy you? The you're welcome is annoying. But he was just trying t do the right thing. If it is recball everyone is just trying to have fun.

Its a small tower with room only for 2-3 people. Everyone knows the rules on that one and it would be pretty hard to not follow them as there is typically a ref stationed there for the very purpose of making sure people comply.
