I have had the same thing happen with my TrekSports but not my Spyridons. It all comes down to where the straps sit

Anyone get a hold of some of the VFF Lontras? I doubt I can fit the smartwool socks in mine the way my feet fit (size bigger and 3 toes slip out of pockets, current size my two biggest are at end) and I'm wondering how "warm" they are being insulated/waterproof/resistant.

My wife is going to be unhappy when she sees these. Even if it is after I have bought them, and started wearing them...

Reffing they are great, I wear them everyday outside of work anyway. Playing, I dont like them, not enough grip.

Which model are you playing in, and on what terrain? What do you normally use?

I have most of the models and have played in most. Komodo's are my daily wear pair. I play on a lot of turf along with woods, sod, most everything. For speedball i wear golf shoes and in the woods usually a good pair of boots. Fivefingers work best in the woods where you don't have to worry so much about bearing down and sprinting all out all the time.

Feiyue Shoes are as minimalist as it gets. The sole is less than an eighth of an inch thick. And there's no padding anywhere. I would venture to say that they're lighter than vibrams.

Feiyue is the goto brand for martial arts shoes. But I own a pair for my Parkour class. They're just sticky enough to get 3 steps on a wall.

I actually quite liked sprinting in my Vibrams the one time I got to try this year. Spyridons had good grip on pretty much anything except the side walls of muddy trenches. I'd love to try the Inov-8 similar shoe but it doesn't have a woven rock plate so probably more risky:

1/8 inch = just over 3 mm, so yes, they are thin. Vibrams are about the same though (trail models aren't, for obvious reasons). Inov-8 are the same and by reviews are much more durable (though more expensive, yes). Better variation in traction too.

Most of the weight of any shoe comes from the outsole--Vibrams are actually fairly heavy compared to some: most are about 7 ounces in a Men's 9.

As I said before, minmalist shoes like the New Balance Minimus (6.4 oz),

and Mizuno Wave Universe 4 (3.8 oz!) can be lighter... but due to the use of less rubber, are less durable.

Vibram is known in particular for its durability.

Try adventure racing shoes, that style shoe was my go to sppl shoe for a long time.

But 1/8" equates to 3.175 or 3.5 mm, depending upon the actual thickness. VFF's are 3 to 4 mm thick, and have tread for running around on turf, dirt, sticks, what have you. Not everything for Parkour translates into a paintball shoe, and vice versa.
