We'll we had another AWESOME day of paintball at PPIV ... I'll let the others describe the day and games... I just wanted to give thanks and props to the EMR staff after a little altercation and 2 good honest players getting ejected for shooting hot.... This happened in the 2nd half of the day around 3:30ish ... One of the Red players called for a chrono check on some Blue players so the ref came over to chrono both players and his little chrono gave readings of 360 fps one players ,460 for the other.. The ref did his job too the number and ejected both players as he should have.. Both players came off the field and re-chrono'd their guns and by the chrono at staging were well within the 285 cap... They went into the building and presented their case to the staff asking for the ref to come off the field and check his chrono.. After a little frustated talk about accurate readings on the field everyone agreed that is is a good idea that the ref escort the ejected player off the field and confirm the reading with another chrono... It was found that his portable had batteries that were almost dead the readings were jumping around... Several minutes after the initial talk EMR staff came out saying that they had found that batteries had caused the bad readings and that the players were welcome back out on the field.. They even took their names and said they had a free pass to Fall Castle to help ease the pain... I thought in this day and age of negativity that this was something that stood out above and beyond... I withheld the players names because they were irrelevant to the point of the post... On a sidenote..... DAMN THE PAINT HURT... That was some of the hardest shell stuff I've ever been hit with... Thanks again to the staff of EMR and the stand-up players that played this weekend.... Jimmy La

Good story, Jimmy! It does seem that most people forget the "service" in customer service nowadays, but it's great to hear that EMR has a handle on that. I've never been to an EMR game, but it looks like a stop I should plan on making at some point.

That's cool! EMR really does make sure games are fun. It's nice to know that firstly they are so concerned about player safety and chrono speed, but secondly that they are willing to be understanding and check to see if their equipment was at fault. The fall passes to the players who helped them find the chrono issue is a kickass touch and truly shows their above and beyond commitment to excellent customer service. That type of thing is exactly why I will come back East to visit and make sure I get to play at EMR.

one of the blue players that got ejected was a stand-up teammate of mine... but after stating his case he did get a pass to fall castle... i got hit from about 10 feet away in the head, and yes, my head still hurts a day later... Last edited by freedom; 08-05-2007 at 01:26 PM. | |

THat certainly ended a lot better than I had originally heard it did.. thanks for passing that on Jim. And yes that paint was HARD! Took a hit from a red player on the elbow that numbed my arm for a couple seconds.... and the shot from DPreckel certainly hurt like all hell... yes there was a "friendly fire" incident initiated by Oldschool.. actually Lrrpie, but Oldschool did the shooting. Anyways, I'm glad EMR let the guys re-chrono over the good machines to at least plead their case. E

anyone know what brand/model paint was used that day? good to hear that velocity checks do happen, I've been shot through a wall in an RV (so 2 layers of wood paneling) and had wood chips/splinters embedded in my hand. i called for a velocity check when a few seconds later that "mission was awarded to the "cheating side" (there's a lot more that goes with this but I'll digress) all the field owner would do was refund my money to keep me from suing, but i will never play that field again, nor will the 250 players that were on my side of the event. EMR has always struck me as one of the models that field owners should measure themselves by. props to those that chose to verify the results before going farther with the issue. question though, if your velocity creeps up through no fault of your own and you don't realize it, do you get a chance to re-chrono and rejoin the game? an honest mistake not fiddling with your settings kind of thing. i have had my velocity jump around in the late fall when the weather can play havoc with your gear, particularly if your using unregulated Co2.

Jimmy: Glad to hear that situation turned out ok. I left you guys in the staging area when everything was still kinda "wtf" for the ejection, before heading back to the field. Seriously though, that paint was HARD! I got shot in the head at least 4-5x up there this past weekend; many many lumps on the noggin'. The paint itself was good stuff for the most part, but kinda "oval-eee" at times. Tons of inconsistant readings all weekend, some even at the Chrono Range chrony's. Was also 90-100* in the sun on Saturday, could have had sumtin to do with it. -baller
