Side tube PGP's?

Will Palmers do a side tube PGP if you ask them to? Just wondering. I have a PGP 2k here, and thinking of picking up an older cartridge valve one, sending it in to Palmers for a nice tune up, nickle plateing, and possibly a side tube mod.

PPS will build you a side tube. it just takes cash$$.

the older pgp's are NON cartridge valved, not cartridge valve.

Side tube would require either an ugly looking patch of some sort on top or a brand new middle tube.

Well....

Well the patch doesn't alway have to be ugly....I can't remember who, but somebody did an awesome patch a while back that you couldn't see unless you were looking for it. It was the best example of butt soldering I've ever seen.

Catchya on the Flip Side.....

Emerald Wolf -- Is considering doing one....

Sorry. It seems my fingers skimmed over typing the "non".

Im trying to decide now whether or not to use the 2k, or an older one. The 2k would look a tiny bit more origional, with an extended barrel. However, an older one would be more clean looking, with a barrel flush with the rest of the tubes.

Curse my indecisiveness!

Anyways, how much $$$ are we talking? Like, $50? $100? Couldnt see it costing more than that to do it...

I'm currently mulling over the idea of having a 2K palmerized with a springfed side tube. Just started though. First things first, I need a PGP.

That's not entirely true.I just got rid of a old style PGP that was cartridge valved and it's not the first ones I've had like that. The later runs of these just prior to the 2K style did have cartridge valves. As did the later runs of P68SC's just before they discontinued them.I worked on quite a few of both.

So, wait...is it the NON or the ones with the cartridge valve that are the better ones? I need to brush up on my PGP tech...

I think I heard that the non cartridge valved ones are slightly more efficient, but due to simplicity and everything else you want a cartridge valve.

Pre 2K PGP's are availiable with both cartridge and non cartridge valves. As long as it's a slightly newer one it should have a cartridge, but they go back a ways so don't think you have to get a 2001 or something.

very true. i've seen the same.

i think it's safe to say, as a majority, the older pgp's are non cartridge valve.

Komodo- i think you'll be better off with a non cartridge valve. that's my personal choice.
