Also it's kind of hard to give spectators some clue about what's going on in a game. Paintball doesn't really lend itself to televison, without a point of focus it becomes a montage of dudes with serious faces shooting at something outside the frame.

Jeeze, it seems like this topic comes up all the time...

I doubt it would make it big--not enough countries play it, and it's boring to watch if you know nothing about paintball. Seriously, I've tried to have my dad and a couple other friends watch it, they said it was the most boring "sport" they ever watched on TV.

Paintball is far too aggressive for the olympics. Just think about it... on the one event where the whole world comes together, countries will still be shooting at each other.

Just the format and attitude of paintball pretty much goes against everything the olyimpics stand for.

It would be cool, but itll NEVER happen.

It would be entertaining to watch two countries like Israel and Iran, or N. Korea and S. Korea face off...

Honestly, the cheating argument is completely invalid. Soccer penalties are assessed by a referee, not some omnipotent being. Hockey penalties are the same thing. A player wiping is the same ****ing thing as a soccer payer taking a dive or fouling a defending player with his hands "accidentally".

A 3 man or 5 man flag pull format would transfer well to tv, the problem with passed attempts to do so is that nobody wants to watch some *******s stand around not moving and shooting 15bps in straight lines. High rate of fire paintball is not only boring to play, its boring to watch.

I feel a limited paint format could have some incredible production values, individual shot counters per player, under barrel cameras and mask cameras for instant replays of eliminations, multidirectional player following cameras to confirm eliminations and wipes, the list goes on. There could be some incredible televised formats.

Hell, a limited paint MILSIM tournament between different armed forced organisations would have a massive draw especially if you could get representatives from different countries.

This. It would make sense in the X-Games, but it'll never fly as an Olympic sport.

Sure. Everyone is waiting for that match between the US and Germany. It'll be great friendly competition. Sorry Germany, we're not rubbing salt in the wound. Just wanted another way to remind you and the rest of the world who's boss behind the trigger.
