Hello MCB... I have decided that I am done wearing "paintball" pants. I hate the restrictive padding, the swishy noises, bright colors, and lack of breathability. If there is one thing I cant stand, its being uncomfortable on the field. So, I have arranged a quick poll to find out what I should switch to using. BDU's all the way. That's what i wore before i got my pair of valken pants. If its good enough for the military its good enough for me.

Before my DBD pants I played for a long time in some Cargo shorts I had that went low enough to just cover my knees. They were great.

BDU's. Try to get an older pair from the flea market. The older ones tend to be of higher quality than the newer ones. EDIT: Or a frilly white skirt, whatever floats yer boat...

Not BDUs, strictly speaking, but I wear these. So far, extremely comfortable (and fit great), well made, durable, but not overly hot. Basically a less expensive copy of the Crye pants, but still extremely well made (and the knee pads were included!).
