i dont know how down and dirty you get while playing but i think that you should also think about taking a dive (especially a bad one) and slamming your chest into the ground. i feel like you could do more damage that way then by gettings shot...but im no doc, just thought of it and thought i should bring it to your attention. but i am personally very impressed that you are willing to work through this for this sport.

I just talked with the guy I know who has one and plays today.

He uses a paintball chest plate thing under his jersey (I think it was a JT brand one)- but the big modification is that he takes the shoulder piece from some snowmachine vest/armor thing and reattaches it to the front of the paintball vest in front of his pacemaker.
Another thing he used and loved for its very light weight qualities and freedom of motion was a military body armor vest. (I believe it's the current one out there- Interceptor?) with just one of the kevlar inserts over that side.

He said the worst thing to watch out for if you end up using one of those paintball body armor pad things is getting hit in the pudge right under the end of the vest.

I still want your Micromag, but here's my advice concerning the pacemaker.

1) Buy a Tac8.

2) Cut out pacemaker, sell on eBay; use funds to pay for Tac8, and whatever else you need.

3) Carry Tac8 in a concealed holster.

4) When heart fails, hand the Tac8 to nearest person; ask them to shoot you in the chest until heart starts.

5) Be the worlds biggest baddass; earn respect of ballers and civilians everywhere.

The simplest solution is usually the right one.

That being said: Buy a paintball chest protector and wear it.

I am going to have to echo the above statement. A sheet of thermo plastic placed in the general area will help take and spread the impact force the foam will absorb the rest of the force.

If you want some badass armor pickup a SW stormtrooper outfit. As soon as I have the loot available I plan on doing the same.

I play with a guy that has one. He wears a hard shell foam lined piece just large enough to cover the pacemaker. Has a figure 8 type harness that goes around left shoulder and arm. The other strap goes around the back of his neck and under his right arm. It takes a little time and effort to get it positioned and snugged up just right. I've never asked him, but it appears to be a commercially made piece to me. Its extremely stout. It looks like it would suck up a 98 mph fastball no problem.

I would personally contact someone like Tactical taylor. Explain your situation and give them the challange to creat something for you that can be put on a molle type vest. or go to:
DIY Tactical, Tactical Gear Making Supplies
Buy what you need, order some thin delron sheeting 1/4 thick. Sew it into the cordura. Man I'll send you some webbing for free (I have 50 yrds lol) if you go this way. You can get a snap kit for cheap at any craft store. Local taylor shops can help you out too. Your 26 yrs old, life isn't over.
Later,
Blackrain

Better than the alternative, right? Sudden death syndrome.. wow.

I would be more worried about the dolts who want to use some sort of emp to take out e-guns on the field.
