Tom K has said that the server AO is on is one crash away from losing the site completely. Tom stated he will do the work if 22-3k can be raised to cover costs. There is a huge amount of history and technical knowledge on there, it would be a huge shame if it died.

They should just export the database. It won't be lost then. Pretty simple to do actually. Then it can be put into read only format. I mean, if the site is going to go away and folks wanted to keep the info, that would be the way to do it.

Or hand it off to someone that will keep it up.

Frankly with that old old code, I'm surprised the site hasn't been comprimised. There have been hundreds of security upgrades since that code version, and a lot of them a big deal.

I propose we raise some funds, but for the purpose of folding AO into MCB. It fits the mandate and this place is one of the most vibrant paintball communities anywhere.

Plus, I could never get registered for a @#%$!ing account. :)

That's probably due to the "high security signup procedure", i.e. "pm beemer." That, and features that can be compromised are simply turned off.

We do need to keep that info somehow.
