Another field that I frequented allowed full auto and let me tell you, getting stitched 10 ft away from a kid who has a new decked out A5... it hurts. A lot...
Agreed. I've been lit up more by Tippy's with 3-round burst than I ever have by a modern electro shown in the video. From what I watched in the video, he never actually shot anyone? and if he did it didn't seem like they took a bunch of hits? Hard to tell with the hopper in the way. Most shot seem to hit the buildings/bunkers, not people. How dare this guy pay his money to play, shoot a lot of paint, and have a good time. That's not what paintball is about.

Had he obviously shot the piss out of somebody or just shot somebody into the fetal position, that'd be a different conversation. This video looks like a guy having fun with his buddies. It also made me want a G6R.

That's Skirmish for you in a nutshell. Swing at somebody, don't even get escorted off the field. We had one of our guys get tackled by some nutbag, the refs let the dude walk away, we found him later and reported him to the ownership, and nothing got done. Classic example of a field that doesn't give two ****'s about the players, just wants to take the money and run.

Anyway, back on topic, I play almost nothing but big games and scenarios all the time. The thing about guys like in the video is that most of them spend about 5 minutes on the field for every half hour they spend in the parking lot reloading, so frankly, they don't bother me much. They're certainly not the majority, though they do exist. To be honest, even though I'm always hearing stories of douchebaggery and cheating at big games, having played them nearly exclusively for 7 years now, I've rarely witnessed any firsthand (save for Skirmish).

I just think it's sad that I probably could have played 2 or 3 8 hour games on just what he shot in the first 3 minutes of that vid

Agreed thats exactly what i meant when i said his style is inefficient. So he shoots a lot so what all that really means is hea next to useless to me at a big game or scenario. Im not gonna make of him. More than likely id just ignore him and stand clear so he doesnt give away my position

MMG has been running for 15+ years, it always has and alwyas will be a game for people to hit the field and just shoot lots of paint, the field owner is all cool with that, every shot is 2c in his pocket.

Shoot at empty buildings all you want it's not my dime.

There is a lot of paint flying and hiding in a building is a good way to get lit up by 20 guys hosing it down and rushing the door, it's a competative event, that's a tactic.

This isn't OK, if a ref is there they will escort you out, but it is that sort of game and not necessarily a good place for inexperienced players.

I'ts not my style of play, so I don't play it.

My team was reffing this game, as part of our sponsorship, the reffing is very good at HSI, certainly if anyone gets physical they are getting escorted from the property, it does happen.

But it's much more likely to happen in a paint rich environment like that. In 11 years of operating a commercial paintball, we have never had a physical fight and only a handful of verbal altercations where we have had to step in.

But in the end, it is up to every individual player to decide if they feel like taking part in such an event.

but that is the whole point

inexperienced players - first timers, relative noobs, people who play rarely - they dont always get the memo that this is a rough house game - all they get is a play experience that can be harsh and then they leave.

tournament paintball has different levels and you generally know what you are getting into from the word go - how many big events post up that players tend to hose a lot of paint and it is not for the faint of heart?

I am 100% onboard with there being different playstyles

that having been said - and as mentioned - I dislike bullies - and oftentimes new players feel bullied or even get bullied by those who have substantially more skill and firepower.

It is finding that happy medium that takes care of the most people and finding a way for the minority on both sides to have a place to play.

it isnt easy - but there is responsibility on all sides in it.

=P

/salute
