Mask fogging and Manual defogging systems

Hi,

I've experimented with fans and they work well but I just read up on MDS for paintball and airsoft masks. Essentially manually pumping air into your goggles to clear up your lens.

I like the idea because;
a. itcould fit any mask,
b. doesn't require batteries.

Here's 1 youtube video I found. Has anyone tried them before?

Seems like a pain in the *** to me. What are you going to do when you are running/in a small bunker/ shooting and reloading. Also you are going to have a piece of tubing that can snag on things.

The best thing I have found, JT goggle fans. I just hit the switch when I want and it sucks the hot air out then I can shut it off. If I'm fogging a lot, like on humid days, I just leave the fan on all game.

Im building one today (at least trying to) for a friend to try on his goggles (and a stick feed for the trracer!) I'm going to try to use some barbs so I can have a tube left-center-right doing the same thing. Maybe even a row of tubes across top of mask

Also, that "reach down and squeeze" motion towards the end of the video had me rolling. Looked like a wicked crab attack.

Ya the location was a bit off for me too. I'm going to build one too with stuff around the house (0$ investment yay) and give it a go. I was planning to put the pump in a vest pocket so its close and easy to reach.

I agree it looks odd, but the idea is interesting. unless your really fogging up, i rarely see people running their fan very long.

Or buy a decent mask?

Rub on some dish soap, let it dry then buff it off with a micro fibre cloth :)
No need for motors, fans, etc and everyone has dish soap.

Be prepared for penis pump jokes lol

I used dish soap in the past, hadn't forgotten about it. I didn't usually really NEED a fan unless the game ran longer than an hour, but I can remember feeling the extra weight of the fan. I plan on using some tubing and barbs from the fish section at the local pet shop, (maybe $4) and the bulb from a fuel syphon kit (should work, one way in/out squeeze bulb). If I wanted to get rediculous, I could just use my battery powered air mattress pump...

I want one for each hands!

That way I will be able to double pump while pumping!
