Rotor market share

Everyone at my field who uses an electronic hopper and almost everyone I see in pictures use a Rotor. This got me thinking. What hunk of the market do rotors own?

20%? 30%? eleventeen%?

I think that for electric hoppers its probably close to 20%, just from what I see. All hoppers, probably less than 5%.

No idea, but considering many of the positive things a Rotor has going for it (Simple, reliable, nearly indestructible) I am surprised that it doesn't have more of the market share.

The only thing I see keeping the Rotor from dominating the hopper market is the price tag. Dye has every right to be proud of it, but they actually increased the price even after it had been released for awhile. Because of that, and because of the common 12.5 bps cap anyway, there's no reason something like a Halo or Revvy won't do the job just fine.

Everyone I know who can afford one, owns one. Some of the local kids here use Halo Toos, but not many.

What stops the kids from buying more Rotors? Two things, the price and the ever-present jamming rumours. I've seen Rotors jamming at the field when I play, not too many though.... can't say the same for Prophecies of any generation. Haven't seen any Spires in person yet, but they're coming.

Interesting... Played a lot with my Gen 1 rotor, and haven't had a jam, yet.

The only time I have had my rotor jam was from the batteries being almost dead. I didn't know they were almost dead at the time because it functioned like it normally one, except for the jamming. Replaced batteries and never had an issue after

i think at our local fields its probably close to 30/40 percent of the electric hoppers are rotors

i can think of 2 guys that use prophecies, a few with old halo/reloader b's, and i have the only spire i've seen.....

rotors dominate up here in the NW
