Ever have that package arrive and...

... when you open it up, you go "WTF!?!?!"

I had that experience late last weekend when a Black Magic I won on ebay came in with a bent ram and mashed beaver-tail. Problem is, I can't tell if it's an issue from the seller, or from shipping. Either way, there's nothing more frustrating than getting all excited about something finally getting to you, and then it's less than stellar once you get it.

Good news for me is that I was replacing the aftermarket pneus with nice and shiny stock ones. Also swapping out the DYE hinge frame which was scuffed for a nice single-trigger slider.

Anyone have any luck bending chrome stock beaver-tails back into shape without the chrome flaking off on them?

And finally, what "ugh" moments have you had when opening up that messily taped box with a home-printed postage label?

I had an Angel 4 one time where the barrel threads got dented in shipping, I think it got crushed against a boomstick that was right next to it in the box that was lazily packaged. I haven't had 'cocker pnuematics bent but I have seen multiple beaver tails bent in shipping. Had another guy ship a e-hopper in a box with no padding, but no damage seemed to be done.

I just had a picatinny rail shipped to me by an online a padded envelope. It came with a nice bend in it. I contacted the comapny and a new one is on the way at no charge but it does put toss a wrench into the works for my plans for this weekend.

I bought a Freestyle off a member here, described as "works excellent" I was more than a little shocked when I screwed my tank in and dumped the entire contents straight down the barrel.

I got a stroker once in a box that was just big enough to wedge the gun in with the grip frame in the bottom corner, and the barrel in the top opposing corner.

No padding. None. Nada.

The barrel was prodruding about 2 inches from a hole when I got it. Luckily brass responds well to a dowell and a mallet.

I bought a KP3 and PMI 1 from a guy on CL. After getting lots of excuses about the shipping, he finally shipped it out and I got a tracking number. Low and behold, when it arrived, I had a nice big box, with a small tube sticking out. It was a bit light, and I made sure to make a video opening the box. Sure enough, There was a KP3, no PMI 1, that was missing the ASA and air hose, and no padding at all. Said box was around 10" x 10", so lots of wiggle room. The tube that was sticking out was an insert elbow that wasn't easily replaced. Luckily, everything worked fine.

I had purchased a mag from our wonderful bst once.
The most terrifying thing was checking the ups tracking number and finding out that the package was damaged in shipping and being transferred to another point for inspection.
When I finally got it, the barrel was sticking out of the box, which was half of its original height (with the impression of the hpa tank visible) but all of the contents were in there and in good shape. I got lucky that time thanks to gratuitous use of newspaper!

I had an amazing marker from WALZ come to me, with a story behind how I was getting it. It arrived, crushed on the back end. Its actually just now in the mail coming back to me so.... fingers crossed.

There is a thread in the dead zone and in sheridan about it

This thing was wrapped up in some fairly stretchy, but not too cushion-y material similar to the cheap stuff you find under the top layer of discount furniture store upholstery. Oh, and there was some really dense commercial carpet padding in the bottom of the box......

I'd have preferred newspaper.

Best one ever was some fuzzy boot liners that my Sandridge TF-5 came in....
