Inserts in 001 increments

I thought my set was fairly extensive and complete. Then I noticed the Empire Freak inserts were a smaller set with inserts in sizes that SP never made. So I made this list. You can have a set in 001 increments from 677-691.

Oh... if you actually measure your SP inserts I'm sure you can fill in some of the gaps as quite a few of them aren't the same size as what's stamped on the insert.

By Size:

670 (tymcneer) - Brass
675 (tymcneer) - Brass

At what point do even high-quality paint balls vary within a batch to a greater extent than the difference between inserts?

Did Ty make a batch of 665 or were they a special run? Don't see him referencing them anywhere.

Also, on the GOG ones did they run those new sizes in stainless? I've found mixed results but I thought they specifically said they weren't going to.

Axel,
I don't think there's a real need to own inserts in 001 increments. I think the Empire set is about perfect but I'd probably throw away the 695 and trade the 690 for a 687 or 689.

When you pay $80+ for a case of the top quality Nelson paint (or some other brands), it gets amazingly consistent.

I have a pair of 665 inserts from Ty. Currently he is out of stock. Check out his sig. As for the 675 677 679 stainless steel inserts, they have been available at various websites like ansgear.com.

The SP Reball insert I have is .670, not .675. Photos show same caliper measuring a reball insert and .675 stainless GOG insert.

Let me clear up a minor issue...

I produce the following "stock" sizes:
.665
.670
.675
.678
.680
.685

I can create any custom size smaller than .685 and larger than .660. Please remember that custom sizes are extra, as they require more than twice the work to make them come out properly.

I am currently unable to produce anything smaller than a .675, as I am out of the base stock needed for the smaller sizes. As soon as I sell a few more inserts (look in my signature) I will be making a reorder, and the other sizes will become available.

Ty

Current Freak compatible inserts in stock:
.665 = 0, .670 = 16, .675 = 3, .678 = 4, .680 = 4, .682 = 4, .685 = 11

Still selling brass tubing, with .678 barrel stock now available!

Ok so I updated the top post with Ty's info. Also, it looks like the smaller GOG stainless inserts are a fact.

I have some SP reball inserts as well. When I get the chance I'll measure them. I thought they were supposed to be 675 but if mine measure out to 670 I'll change it. I assume the GOG reball inserts would be the same bore size but who knows.

Aside from points where efficiency has a benefit (IE 12 grams) what is the major benefit of tight boring in a marker with functional detents?
