I thought the thread was gonna be complaining about players who call themselves out cuz they run out of air

I am glad paintball was never a career for me . . . if it ever had been I wonder if I'd have 25yrs of playing under my belt. it has had its ebbs and flows, but hobbies do that

It's funny, this has been on my mind lately as well. The desire to keep playing just hasn't been there for me this year. I think I've made it out 6 times, the trip to EMR included. A year or so ago, I was going all the time, rain or shine. None of my friends really have the time or money to keep up with it anymore, and things seem to be going downhill at my favorite field. Everything is WAY too competitive now, and there's at least 1 or 2 d-bags there every time. When I go to a walkon day, I just want to mess around and have fun. It doesn't need to be about crushing the heathens on the other end of the field without mercy or remorse.

I've been considering getting rid of almost everything, down to one pump and one electro/mech. I'll never recoup what I spent on gear, but if I did get rid of some crap, I'd be that much closer to the Boss 302 Mustang I was drooling over this afternoon. Trouble is I get too attached to my toys, so to speak. But I know the urge will come and go, I just want to have something laying around for when it does come back.

Just wondering if anyone is on the same boat.
I think your problem lies within your first sentence and the word "career".

For many of us we've experienced what I believe you're currently feeling. It comes and goes like all things. Think of it like the tides. Right now you're in a low tide.

Treat it more like a recreational hobby without getting all serious and play with a small group of friends and I believe you'll start enjoying it again. It's easy to get burned out when you're playing on the fast paced side of the game.

Eh, I don't consider it a career.....I guess I was just tied up for words

I quit the tournament side of paintball over a year ago, I'm pretty much only woodsball right now.

^This.

Switch it up. If you play electro, pick up a pump. Learning a different style of play (or going back to an old one) helped me get back that thrill I had when I first started playing. There have been a few years where I didn't play at all but for the most part it's held my interest longer than any other hobby. The down times come after getting pumped to play and hitting the field and having something like equipment failures wreck the day. If you've had a bad day, or even a series of them, shake em off and keep shooting!
