Charles Nelson 007

With the recent passing of Charles Nelson, I remembered I had this 007.

Does anyone know the history of it? I've had it for a few years, put away in storage, moved and forgot about it.

IIRC those were made and sent to dealers who had high sales, as a gift.

Alray or Drum would have more info.

Yup.. Azzy is right. Those were for dealers. Pretty neat. They also had GOLD plated ones for the PMI's for the same reason. While I've heard about them, and actually know someone who owns one of those fancy PMI's, I haven't seen a picture of one online.

Nickel plated 007? I never knew they did that for the high volume sellers. Guess my field owner had a gold spray painted Splatmaster then!

that nickel is pretty sharp looking, seems kinda a shame they didn't put real wood grips on while they were at it. the plastic wood looks a bit cheap compared to the rest. imo

Thanks for the information!

I'd like to see the gold plated PMI as well! Sounds sweet.

i somehow doubt its nickel plated as much as it seems to be, since nelspots were steel, its entirely possible to have the body made of stainless steel, and polished heavily? or just chrome plated like a car bumper's. but the way it appears to be done says stainless steel polished, or chrome plated as a whole...hmm interesting nice marker though, definitely a one of a kind

You can have 007s nickel plated. Look at the one in B's avatar, for example. The reason it would look so different from your average PPS Nickel finish is because they use a matte finish that is cheaper to achieve than their polishing option.

Yeah, the labor to completely polish out a body is expensive. Also, plating holds better on a matte finish(more surface area and texture).

These are nickle plated OO7's meant for sales rewards / presentations there were about 100-200 of them produced. Although they look and can function they are no intended to be. They were to be a display piece the plating is quite fragile as it is just nickle over polished steel. Dealers had to sell in excess of 1,000- 2,500 guns to be awared one (depending on market size)
