I like this idea and think you should go for it. I like the concept of everyone using the same style guns, and of all the types, blowback are the most common and available. If you want to play with cockers then start a mech league. I don't see the big deal, if it isn't allowed then you can't use it, case closed. If you don't want to buy a blowback then don't. Would you complain that you can't use a 250cc dirtbike in a 125 race? No you wouldn't because it isn't allowed. The point of regulated competition is not to just grab the best of the best, it's to do what you can within given set of restrictions. If you don't like it then don't do it, just like how you don't race NASCAR or F1 because you don't have the right car, or how yo don't play PSP because you don't like the format. So give it a try and see how it goes. Make changes and come back with a more refined version. If it doesn't work then big deal we won't write it on your gravestone.

. You have to be able to craft a rule that defines blowback carefully. It can be done but, as I noted before, make certain its very clear in the name what is expected. The Spyder cup was pretty clear.

DUH! Spyder Cup! I should have thought of that WAY earlier. I contacted the Spyder guy here on MCB about the Spyder Cup rules. He said he would try to dig them up. For the time being, I'm thinking simple center-flag/elimination, 3-man teams - maybe hopper -ball, best of three (race to 2?). Last edited by ironnerd88; 11-26-2012 at 07:58 PM. |

Thinking about introducing the idea to my local field owner. However, the limited paint thing is not going to fly. It is a tournament so the point of the tournament is to make money (for the field anyway). Thinking about introducing it with two levels 1. Blowbacks only Geared toward the newer player. Gravity fed hoppers only. 2. Everything else, RT prohibited. For the guys that want a feeling of nostalgia, or players that wanna try something new. Force fed hoppers allowed? The thing is, we already have a beginners tournament where we don't allow anyone with more than 2 local tournaments, or any national level tournaments to play. I think the first category I listed almost falls into that (although players can use electronic equipment, it has to capped at 10 BPS on semi). I love the idea of a blowback tournament though! It will give me a reason to show people just fast my Tippmann Gryphon can shoot with a Proto Primo hopper.
