When I first started shipping stuff I got screwed using a priority mail box to canada I sold the reg for 35 and shipping was 35. Thats when I invested in my own boxes from Uline I got some boxes the same size as a small flat rate or medium flat rate box and a couple other sizes anyhow I recently shipped a box to South Africa for less than 10 using USPS parcel post. It took a while but it got there no problem. I have also shipped to Sweden Canada Mexico Australia all were less than 20. Moral of the story is DO NOT USE PRIORITY OR FLAT RATE BOXES.

The one I'm sending right now is a high-dollar deal so it's not a problem. The issue lies with trying to send less-expensive things up north - that extra $22 is pretty considerable on a $60 marker.

High dollar items I don't mind spending $30+ on shipping. Its the small items that kill me.

Here's the problem most poeple don't see. And don't happen often but when i does The shipping person can get very annoyed. I used to send stuff to Canada First class and parcel post. Till one day one returned un deliverable for some reason. That package that cost me $10 bux to ship. Ended up costing me another $22 bux to get back After everyone added their fees to it. Now that ended up costing $32 bux for something that never got there. If i had sent the same package priority it would of cost $18 and if it came back no extra charge. priority Is not the Cheapest but effective. International cost double what in states would It's $5.95 for small flat rate in states $12.95 to Canada and some other country's Think the same box to Germany cost me $18 It verys

Here's the biggest problem..Its a lot less to ship an item to the great white north from say new york than here in so.cal.. Flat rate is the only way to go, its just that few are willing to pay for it and if they do i still get charged paypal fees on shipping cost..

I'm surprised this thread comes up as often as it does. I use the K.I.S.S. principle. When shipping I always use USPS Priority within the US. Outside of the US I use USPS International Priority with big ticket items. If the buyer isn't in a rush I'll go with USPS First Class to help him save a few bucks. I always figure in the expense of shipping (Which has never been more than $38 to Canada with all the trimmings) into my prices when I sell things, it makes it easier on everyone. On the flip side, I also always avoid sale threads that have prices at or above market value with shipping not included. It's not hard to figure it out, I shouldn't have to do the work for the seller. As far as UPS, screw that company with a large rusty corkscrew.
