just have them go through the "mission" strategy or whatever out in the staging area so they don't need their masks on yet, and then a short scene of them inside the field with masks on running to the base

Hilarious. "Did you shoot yourself, bro?"
We're generally mature enough to ignore the safety issues, this was the most entertaining paintball video I've ever seen!

More than you know but less than you'd hope.

I was chuckling the entire thing but the paint grenade explosion sound effect was amazing, had me in tears.

I don't know try it out at next time you play and report back....

In a game that is analyzed and scrutinized by public perception constantly I would have to say, yes it does matter.

What do you all think is going to happen? Mom is going to see this video and never let Little Timmy play paintball again because the bad guy is wearing a half mask?

I just don't want some dipsh**s picking up paintball under the notion that it's okay to shoot at each other without proper eye protection, and when little timmy goes back to Momma partially blind, we all know she's going to blame paintball or the marker. Not her sweet little angel Timmy.

Pardon the french, but it's something I take really seriously. I like eyesight. It's a nice luxury.

At least this is not as bad as you see in cable TV shows. Like Big Bang Theory - love the show, the wife and I watch reruns all the time, but every time they do paintball in an episode, it makes me cringe how poorly they display mask discipline. I think this short is about as perfect as you can get - very good mask usage most of the time, half masks for some of the participants and then only when necessary to display facial emotions, and very little mask off situations on the field.

I get your point, but every field starts off the day with a speech about safety, and just about every paintball gun and every box of balls is plastered with warnings about mask safety. People will choose to ignore all of that and screw around whether they see videos or not. Hollywood is never going to portray anything accurately, and it doesn't make a difference if they do or not. People have to realize that movies aren't real life, but even if they don't, there is no thought process that goes, "oh, I saw that movie where Reese Witherspoon's boyfriend took his mask off and rocked; I'm gonna do that, too!!!" Newbies (and others) take their masks off 'cause it's hot, lenses are fogging, no shooting is happening right now, it's uncomfortable, and the combined sweat of the last seven renters to use this mask is starting to reek. Stopping that and initiating mask discipline takes a community. Everywhere I play has a clear staging area and a clear playing area, and people with masks off in the playing area or condoms off in the staging area get gentle nudges that quickly escalate into shouting if rules are not quickly complied with--this comes from both refs AND players.

Actually, I think that we players do an excellent job of enforcing safety and policing each other in our sport.
