As for the OP. Yeah it's a guy who took a whole block to shoot the new R7. Last time I checked, paintball is pretty open to people all across the nation and the world. The only true thing you need to enjoy this sport is $$$$.

can't blame you, they're both fine guns, but word is we can't shorten it to r7 anymore on account of that new helmet camera.

I go out and shoot in my driveway all the time... In my slippers.

Must be an Ohio thing.

I don't think this particular case presents a practical safety issue. It does set a bad example though.

I grew up in Southern California (San Fernando Valley to be specific) and around the time I left for the Navy, they had passed ordnances to prohibit the discharge of paintball guns within city limits, due to vandels and assaults. However, it requires someone to either do it in front of a cop, or for someone to report it. In this case, I hope his neighbors are allright with it.

For everyone else, what are the laws / ordnances concerning paintball where you live?

Here in Fairfax County, Virginia, You cannot discharge a paintball gun unless you're on land that is also zoned for hunting- and that type of property doesn't exist here, and hasn't for a long time. I don't think too many folks are aware of that law but, all it takes is someone to mistake what your doing for shooting a gun, they call the cops, and the cop then realizes you're breaking a different law and blam, you're in trouble.

Schenectady, Albany and Troy NY all prohibit the discharge of pellet, air, bb and paintball guns. I had to call the cops earlier this year because the moron that lives behind me was shooting birds off my neighbors roof (Not only in violation of City Law, but a violation of the Federal Migratory Bird Act) The cop told him that if he found out he even touched the pellet gun again he would be back to pay him a visit... 260lb gorilla of a cop vs skinny dumb *** 16 year old... I would have paid good money to see it.

When I lived in Gaithersburg, MD, one of my neighbors called the police on me for discharging my paintball gun(I was shooting into a bucket, that is on the ground, within my properly line. No paint ever left my property). I found out there is an energy limit(6 Jouels). As long as I shoot the normal paintball under 207FPS my paintball gun does not break any rules. I actually no long live there so I have not kept up with the law but it is something good to know.

FPS(Speed) MPS(Speed) Conversion (FPS->MPS) Wt of PB Energy(J)
207 63.0936 3.280839895 0.003 5.971203541
208 63.3984 3.280839895 0.003 6.029035684

*edit*
I just looked it up. They have changed it to 16 lbs of thrust. I wonder if nail guns would be an issue. Most uses 60-120 PSI.
