heinous - which field are you talking about? I've never had a problem getting a CO2 fill at any of the fields I play at

I agree with the 'get the bulk tank' sentiment, merely for the cost and convenience factor. That is if you have space for it

they still do co2 at pendleton? what problems were we having with it then? i remember the lot of us who do use co2 were really upset about something.

I think it was the price combined with the fact that Matt was having an issue with them filling the tanks properly. I know Matt was having an issue with them filling his 3.5 oz tank IIRC.

I have a bulk tank, it was pretty reasonable. My double brass needs co2.

Its huge in outlaw still. Around here you can only get hpa
at a dive shop for 5 bucks a fill. Dick's, sports authority, and a handful of hunting shops fill CO2 so it is quite a bit more accessible. Also, you can buy 2 tanks for the price of a steely and get 4 times the shots, so its a no brainer for the backwoods tippy shooter.

Little by little, I've seen more fields switch to HPA only. They won't fill it, and usually will not allow anyone to fill there own CO2 tanks on property.

The reasons are usually a mix of being cheaper, and "safer". Its cheaper in that they no longer need someone to fill co2 tanks. At some fields its a full-time job in itself, and sometimes requiring a whole army during big games. With HPA, its trivial to full a whole line of players at once.

As some say its "safer". Using unregulated, or unsiphoned co2 has its issues. Pressure in the tank will rise as the day warms up. This means needing to deal with hot guns in the afternoon. And if the rental fleet is all co2, its the fields job to chrono them all day as well. Likewise, the reverse is true, and pressure will drop in winter, causing some guns to fail altogether.

Both points are legit, though having been playing for 25 years or so, I still think that co2 has lots of advantages. Its generally lighter then equivalent hpa systems. Its much cheaper, and generally has much less maintainence. And its possible to get HPA-performance (ie siphons, or regulation).

and my guns can only run on co2, not HPA. I'd switch to .50 caliber before I switched to HPA.

Hpa at my local field with 1 or 2 bulk tank for co2(instead of 6)
Their fleet is hpa only
They offer I think 20$ off if you exchange your co2 for a new hpa tank

Asking HP what guns he uses is like asking TF if he plays pump.

If my local fields phase out co2 (unlikely anytime soon) I'll get a bulk tank. Like somebody else said, my Nasty brass prefers co2.

Montneels and other liquid fed guns will shoot extremely low fps on air.
