Hey, Anyone remember this fine piece of paintball equipment? Tracer Ball I was just wondering around you tube and found this. I think there was someone at the field I use to go had this thing. IIRC, the 100 rounds were around $10 to $15. The charging unit was around $100 in one of the magazine advertised stores like I&I or Skanline. It was a cool concept that never took off. I never seen it in action though.

you can still buy them on ebay. Damage inc had a private game a few years ago where we used these. edit: scratch that, there was a guy in california still selling new in box units a year or so ago last time i looked. But they appear to be gone now. Last edited by weekendballer; 12-10-2012 at 12:31 AM. |

I was talking to the wife about one version of these just the other day. I remembered the special hoppers they made to charge the balls, basically an Apache loader with the insides chromed (to reflect more light - here it is) and the stirring implements taken out to be replaced by lights. So you spent a lot of money to get the performance of a $5 "slap agitated" hopper. Tracerballs were popular for about a year or two and then everyone remembered, after playing one night game, that night games suck, period, and Tracerballs went back into the annals of paintball history. Give it another 5 years, and they'll be back until everyone remembers night games suck and Tracerballs will go back under, once again. In all of the years I've played paintball, I've had exactly one enjoyable night game, and all of the rest of them were anything but. Night at the field is best spent drinking and BS'ing around the campfire, trust me.

My local field briefly did some interesting UV-lit games, essentially cosmic bowling... but with paintball. I assume the same paint would be Tracerball compatible. Cosmic Paintball ![]() Quote:

They had the hoppers, uv balls, and even a last minute muzzle charger adapter before the paint exited the barrel. Prices were decent enough if you wanted to mess around with it some.

I have never really enjoyed night games. But I found you can get a similar effect by breaking a glow stick and pouring the liquid inside your hopper.
