Guy with the cool toys
I just love the rush of it. As Viper put it it's a rush knowing that somewhere on the other side of those woods or airball field or wherever you play there's another person with a gun who's just as eager to hunt you as you are to hunt them nothing compares to that. I also love the social aspect of chatting about strategy and such afterwards over pizza and beer

I play paintball for several reasons, the two most important are the time I get with my 15 year old son, the other is the vacation from my brain.
I tried fishing, golf, etc, with my son, nothing clicked for him. Then we played paintball at a birthday party, for him it was like Call Of Duty...Live. For me it is like a vacation from my brain. If I am running, riding my bicycle or going for a hike, I am thinking about everything except what I am doing, work, family etc. When I am playing paintball it is 100% focus, if you let your mind wonder, SPAT!
Now it is a ritual, nearly every week-end we play, so we have some great friends we look forward to seeing each week...now that is our favorite thing!

i like guns, love the act of shooting and i can shoot people with out a messy trial or jail time. sure, the first 4 letters of paintball are pain, but its the feeling of putting all the hate, all the misery and all the anguish of my life that has built up to that point(from game to game) and send it all down the barrel, ruining so other person's life(or game).
paintball is a catharsis for me. good, bad, it doesn't matter. i leave it all at the field and start anew on the way home...

I have to agree with David A, I can´t get that kind of rush from anything else.
Or rather I could, but I would be killed in the process (ie. motorcycles, DH mountain bike etc.)
I´m just not that athletic, and quite frankly I´m scared of death when it comes to fast moving vehicles.
When I play paintball, I play to kill or get killed.

I play because it allows you to be someone entirely different altogether like those before me have said
It's got enough pain to get your adrenaline up and going but not serious enough that later down the road your body deals with the toll
Like Ollie Lang once said, "there's just something about shooting someone with a paintball that's just beyond words"
when you really do some deep thinking on it you find it's got many of lifes lessons you can learn from and take to heart
Its chess with guns, nothings better or more entertaining

It is the one hobby that i enjoy that i can shoot real people and get away with doing it. It is alot of fun and the people you meet and the friends you make from the game make it well worth the lifestyle.

Yes, that is a joke ---->
To keep my shooting skills honed until the sleeper cell gets activated by a certain terrorist group I cannot name.
And this 'hello' is for the CIA/FBI agents that are now watching my activites.

fun thread. apart from the fun and challenging aspects I think there is a bit of primordial programing in us that given the right set of circumstances we get to tap into - flight or fight instincts - that kind of thing. Its rare that civilized people normally get to experience their more primitive side... kind of scary really... but its nice to tap into from time to time. IMO we are not nearly as civilized as we make ourselves out to be.
