Thought I got a good deal on my Jeep at around $500 less that bluebook price. I've since put about 2 grand into it and it doesn't work.

The most I have saved would be ~$6000 off my '12 accord coupe. Even "negotiated" the terms of the financing (if you look, they required notice IN WRITING of any mods you do..), got some free coolant, oil, wheel/tire, etc. When I left, I was happy. The salesman was the man. And the manager realized he got bent over for thinking he was going to screw over just "another kid".

<3 my car.

In 2007, I paid $1000 for a 2002 dodge cummins with only 98K miles.

I worked at a local car dealership. Guy wanted to trade it in for the newer diesels. I was the mechanic that did the inspection on the truck. Body had a few dings and needed the front axle rebuilt. Exerything else was golden. Dealorship gave the guy $800 in trade. As soon as the dealorship took ownership I handed the used car Manager $1000. They took my offer and It had been a great truck.

Had to do some extensive repairs to it, I also beefed up the engine.

I saved a TON of money buying this......one of those right place, right time thing. I have also spent alot of money on this thing, twin turbos, injectors, pumps, etc. Going to be used eventually for sled pulling competitions.

I pay what I am comfortable paying for an item. If I am not willing to pay what it is marked or if I negotiate down that is the new "fair" price. I could tell myself all the thousands of dollars I have saved but I would not have been interested in the items at the higher price so it doesn't count as actually having saved it.
