Aluminum grips for Empire Axe

Has any seen or know of anyone that can or produce/manufacture aluminum grip panels for the Empire Axe?

Trying to flush something out and it would depend on if I can get my hand on a pair.

Yes, I know the stock grips are already comfortable and sufficient.

Thanks in advance!

It wouldn't be hard to do. Would you want just flat panels or a curved outer surface? I can provide the hole spec and outline if it helps. Heck, you could cut a set out by hand if you really needed too.

If you did it out of flat plate you could do it with basic hand tools. If you want it curved like 45 panels that would be a lot more work but still possible with hand tools like files/dremel etc.

The first thing I ever made in paintball was a set of grips for my Montneel Icon Z1. I keep it on my desk as a reminder of how I started. They were made with a hack saw, set of hand files, power drill, a box cutter and sand paper. I made the frame section up from layers of aluminium plate to get the shape and thickness I needed.

Where there is a will, there is a way.

Indeed!

But I just wouldn't have the time to really focus on a project like that. As simple as it sounds.

Between my day job (finance), family and painting (hobby).... It would be easy for me to "outsource" it.

If im not mistaken, just about any 1911 grip will fit the axe, so your options are almost unlimited.

Specifically, alumigrips, real nice.

I don't think that is correct, no?

I think the grip panels have two top screws and one bottom (off to the side) screw. Ill double check but I don't think 1911 grip panels fit. I could be wrong.

maybe possible to add some holes to existing .45 aluminum panels? see how 45 panels fit over the frame in place of stock grips, going that route could make the custom grip job real easy

Hmm. Im probably wrong, not an axe buff.

If nobody currently makes them, one option I can think of is shortrunpro.com, worked with them before and theyre not bad.

And, if you wanted to, I'd bet you could make your money back plus some if you ordered say, 25 and sold them off.

1911 Grips will not fit. I couldn't quite get them to work when I was designing the Axe grip frame because of the solenoid location and the air transfer tube, and because we wanted the grip to go up further on the frame.

Because of the cut out in the frame and the current screw hole locations I don't see it being an easy fit to modify a set to work. Easier to make new grips I think.

If it did it again I'd try harder because I love 1911 grips more and more. So many options.
