| MCB Member | Mag Fed Question
If you were going to start playing woodsball/rec ball and you wanted to go mag fed or have the option for both mag fed and hopper fed on the fly, what marker would you go with and why? There seems to be tons of options out there right now and I know absolutely nothing about them.

I would probably go with the new Spyder MR5. Twist the barrel and go from hopper fed to mag fed and vice versa. Simple mech that is easy for anyone to maintain and is decently priced. Here's the thread on here about it. Spyder MR5 FS Ready

What would you go for between a new MR5 and a used T9.1? I know the mags for the T9.1 are a lot heavier and cost quite a bit more.

So many things to consider. Are you going to be using fs rounds or regular paint or have intent to use both

I would like something to be able to shoot both.

Ok that limits a few things. So for you the tacamo kits are a no go, as well as most of milsigs models, I think milsig either has one coming out or has already came that shoots both. But I don't think any of them are hopper adaptable either. So for you and your needs. There's the T9.1 I don't think it can switch on the fly though and like you said the mags are expensive and always remember it's a long barreled pistol and has some minor inherent problems because of that. There the dye dam . which has uber cheap mags and is a good marker if you have the scratch to fork over for it. The mr5 and hammer7. Cheap guns. Not the cheapest mags but not the most expensive. I think that's everything..... Oh there's the ATS. They have apparently an easy mod for the mags so they'll shoot first strikes and they may be hopper fed I think maybe.

I have a Hammer 7 for first strike only and I was thinking about an MR5 for dual. I'd love a DAM but there's no way I can afford that right now. I also have a T9.1 but I'm thinking about selling it off to fund an MR5, it seems like too much bulk and the maintenance is supposed to be pretty difficult on those as well. Plus I don't want to but any more Tib mags, too much money.

I think for the amount of money you could sell the t9 for you could possibly get a decent package together for the mr5

The T9.1 cannot switch from Hopper to Mag (or vice versa) with a magazine in the well. Because, the magazine interfaces with the barrel.

It would be nice if the MR5 had some more barrel options but it doesn't look like that will happen. What is the bore of the stock barrel?
