Wood Wrap-Around Grips - Interest Thread

I know hunting down a nice pair of wood wrap-arounds is becoming more and more difficult, and prices increased due to lack of them on the market. I was tossing around the idea of asking my Bro-In-Law to make some. I gave him a pair of mine to just check the feasibility of making them. They would be expensive he said to make them, writing the code, cost of time on the CNC etc...

So...would anyone be interested in the....and how much would you pay? Keep in mind, all would be made to order, no mass producing like Smart Parts was able to do.

Sorry Bacci...borrowing your image:

Of course the price depends on labor, materials used and quality of the final product, but I think the $50-$75 range would be a fair price range.

I would love to see new wood grips being produced, though.

I'm not trying to derail your thread but, I have had this site that I found last year bookmarked. They sell grips that look comparable to the Smart Parts. I haven't purchased any yet because they are pricey. They do look like a nice alternative though. Colt Government 1911, Commander Grips: grips4guns.com

My Feedback http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/f...-feedback.html My link sucks. This is why I operate a CNC machine instead of program one.

Dude, maybe not now, but I'd love to have some super ergonomically shaped wood grips for some of my guns...

Just not sure which yet...

Wildgoat, thanks for the link! I was searching around for some - didn't see those before....might just go that route. He has had a few requests to make them, but was reluctant due to the complexity of the code required to produce them - and if it was worth the time and money to do so.
