Twister. what do you want..
Im starting the thread on my own just to find out what you guys want to have ,see and spend on the new Twister. I want all of you to also be in the shoes of the Lapco and THINK about production costs, overhead, packing and profit and all the other stuff involved.
Please be realistic and mature, this is MCB and we do hold ourselves to a higher standard..:old:

Ego or aka feedneck
2k spec
Matching front/back block/asa
Choice of basic colors/raw

Riddler 02-28-2013 03:13 PM

I want a noticeably different milling style than 90's era Twisters.

BigOldSkool 02-28-2013 03:15 PM

2k spec
Threaded feed neck.... don't care what kind wgp is fine.
2k bolts for commonality
Match milled front and rear blocks
Asa milled would be nice but not a deal breaker
Raw no anno

Also the ability to send a body in.... I have 40ish raw bodies

Centerfeed, PBlock, Clamshell milling, Full length body, Matching blocks & va.

I perfer 99 spec backblocks but I know im in the minority.

Those would be my ideal wants. But I understand it may not be what is made.

  • Threaded body style feedneck or modd'd to accept Ego/Bob Long feednecks
  • Pblock'd
  • Mini'd <---This should at least be offered as an option, they have one on display
  • Matching twister frontblock, backblock, and vertical ASA (if I cannot get a mini'd body)
  • Wire detent
  • 99 spec front block
  • At least a slightly different milling from the originals, so it can be a true Lapco Twister and not take away from the originals

Some of my thoughts...

For a price point, I know people here on mcarterbrown may pay more for nostalgic value, but for newer players who just want to build a pump or semi I cant really see wanting to spend over 120$ for a body. After the initial onslaught of MCBer's buy up the bodies they want, the new design is going to have to appeal to the new auto cocker/pump market. As much as people on here might not like, changing the design to incorporate features that the current pump market wants would probably be a good idea

EDIT: OK I get it, this is going to be a very limited run. 300-400 is definitely more realistic.

For the design changes I may be a minority on some of these idea's but i might as well throw in my 2 cents.

Taking the sight rail off the top would clean up the gun, and make it easy to tell the difference between old and new ones. I personally have not seen too many people using oeg sights on centerfeed guns anymore.

With some of the newer tournament players, offering a mid blocked option may be a good idea if they actually want to add this product to their inventory.

120~ for a raw body
200~ ccm autotrigger kit
50~ stock wgp internals
20~ reg

The numbers here are obviously estimated, but you should look into what a person is going to have to spend to get the gun in working order, and then compare it to markers on the market (ccm, empire) to make a real decision on price.

Offer them as raw bodies, and maybe a few standard anno colors.

I think 120 is a pretty optimistic price for one of these...

I'd like to see:

-Ego Feedneck/ feed milled into body and threaded like Kapp did with the Reflex
-2k spec
-Standard cocker detent
-P-block (regular style is fine too)
-Full body (keep mini-ing as an option for those that want it. Personally I can't stand it, but I see why some people like it)
-Standard cocker internals, not trilogy style.

That's about all I can think of. I'd love to build a twister pump :)
