Thanks everybody for the 2 cents. Lots of great points.

I find it fascinating that there is still honor or good sportsmanship in paintball. Maybe its because there is not a over paid pro level? If top PB players were making tens of millions then all bets are off I would imagine, and anything goes... heck if its that way for cycling.

thanks again!

It is a viable tactic but to put it blunt pretty douchey.

Don't the top level tournaments have limits on the amount of padding you can wear?

It is super effective to wear padded gear, thats why everyone wears super baggy shirts, and pants..besides just trying to look like cool guy snow boarders.

In rec ball, as a skilled player, it is just a dickwad thing to do.

I have a quite old jersey that has elbow pads but it always confused me because they basically line up with my forearms not really my elbows at all.. Woops...we accidentally included some sweet bounce protection.

I wear elbow pads cause I dive and slam into stuff and occasionally I get a bounce off of them. Does that make me a douche?..... No.

I dont go out if i take a bounce, its not called bouncy ball, if i dont have paint on me i am not out but i dont engineer my gear to take bounces. I may position my gear like my pod packs in an area less likely to take a hit, on my back. I feel people that tailor their gear specifically for bounces are also the type who wipe. I have some local "good" players as many people refer to them who do this and i take pride in taking them out with one nice shot from my "inferior" pump guns while they carry the latest space dildos and have local sponsors and think they are great. You dont need to be sponsored to be good. I play in minimal layers because its hot when i play, wearing more clothing to cause bouncing will slow you down and make you sweat more so i see it as a disadvantage personally. I use speed and light gear to my advantage and i just get up close and shoot them in the face, masks dont take bounces.

Safety padding is not a big deal but people who wear 4 or 5 huge shirts are what i am talking about.

In tourney play - sure. In rec ball I prefer: Do what it takes to have fun, as long as it doesn't come at the expense of other people having fun.

full discolosure: we all overeat into obesity for natural padding so that we can have padding while crying foul on players who actually wear padding... have our cake and eat it too, if you will.
