Why aren't Pro's in PSP using Mech guns to get around ROF cap?

sooooo was just poking through the PSP rule book. ROF cap is only for markers with a battery or other electronics in them. does not apply to loaders (they have their own rule set in "other equipment")

Mech guns have the rule of no response or RT type triggers (no pull and release, no RT mags)

This would allow non RT/E mags. non E cockers. and a any gun that's running a phnematic firing system.

They are not ROF capped! ROF capping is a subset in the rule book of E-gun rule 5.3.6. (5.3.6.1. to 5.3.6.4)

SO who wants to stick a Rotor on a nice cocker with QEV's? or on their ULE mag? and piss off the PSP? Think a Pro team would do it if you told them they could have uncapped semi?

YOu'd get smoked. I don't know of any cocker that can shoot 12.5 bps constantly.

cause mechs aren't cool.

the major companies don't make them(Dye, PE, Luxe, Macdev).

electros are easier to fire over sustained periods of time.

even with the mag option, AGD isn't sponsoring anyone and tourney players like to get stuff for free or very cheap.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9tHwAvMdXQ this seems pretty easy to hold a high rof with... Just wish he would stick a rotor on it

and Kee/Empire pretty much makes one... and how hard would it be to put a MV2 in other guns?

mech's weren't/aren't cool cause they where slower then E-Guns... what if that was un true?

and if you want to take a peek http://pspevents.com/wp-content/uplo...3-Rulebook.pdf

it would be back like the NPPL in 2k4? with uncapped semi and the halo... oh man....

p.s. i know if these really took off, they would most likely be banned. But for a group of guy's to do it for the lolz, even for one game. would be great!

because they are all sponsored by companies with flagship electros

Because if they have to use cheater boards and ramping modes to hit 12.5 on an electro, what makes you think they could do it* on a mech?

*By "do it" I mean shooting sustained ropes of paint like they do now. Sure, anyone can hit 12.5 for a second or two on a well-tuned mech, but keeping it going for any length of time isn't viable.

I was at the PSP Dallas yesterday, and while Empire's new mech cocker they had at the booth was super nice it just couldnt hold its own in a ramping based game.

Greenmtnphantom 03-16-2013 08:27 AM

Aside from sponsorships.

Because with a mech you have to maintain 13+ bps to shoot 13+ bps.

With an Electro you have to maintain 3bps to shoot 12 bps.

Wraith 03-16-2013 08:57 AM

Yep. Basically, you won't see it because the players don't have the necessary skillset to throw ropes out of a mech.
