Slowly but surely...

...airsoft is taking over my local paintball scene. I was in the local shop yesterday picking up a freak insert and I'd say 75% of the marker wall is airsoft guns. And they make an announcement a few days ago on how they are going to be pushing airsoft 10x more this year. Looks like it's time to look for an outlaw ball field.

Is airsoft equipment increasing in availability now up there?

Last time I was at our local paintball store he had changed about 25% of the paintball guns to airsoft, and had also said it was catching on.

That nelspot never needs lube, shoots 2,000 ball per second, never needs reloaded, doesn't require an air source and when the paintball hits somebody the result is the same as if Chuck Norris round house kicked them.
He nick named the gun Reggie.

It's getting big here also. Local store just expanded to add more airsoft, though he didn't take any paintball square footage away, so that's a good thing.

my local shop is practically 3/4 AS/milsim gear now. used to be one wall was milsim guns the other wall was speedball guns (both used and new) and then the center was clothing and the center display case was air systems. Now it's paintball on one wall (mostly milsim stuff) a few speedball guns behind the air system display case and the rest of the store is AS parts and guns. Makes me sick but I guess the market is shifting not exactly sure why but it is.

I guess its still new to some. I would say its been 2 years at least that milsim/airsoft have become more popular. I don't see a problem with it and its quite expected. Alot of people get into paintball just so they could have a milsim/gamin experience. For years people have been modding their paintball guns to look more and more real. Now with the advent of magfed markers every where its just going to grow more and more. I would say at some point in the near future there might be a merging of AS and a segment of paintball. In my area there a ton of milsim only teams who play with a specific set of rules. Many fields are accommodating them.

Cause CoD is badass and being a commando is cool.

I think the two can co-exist peacefully. The AS players at Panther Paintball last weekend were very accommodating of both styles of play and in the limited conversations I had with them I got a pretty respectful vibe.

Paintballers and airsofters are, in the end, a bunch of people running around playing tag with gun-like devices.
