Occasionally I'll see one of the guys from Citrus Connection with a little speaker shoved into one of the loops on his pod pack

more fun during night game, strap a boom box on a back pack crank volume up on something like "run thru the jungle" from CCR and sprint the field into the opposing forces command base and blast/all dead everything...... ;P

King Kong, the Bad Monkeys tank, is wired with loudspeakers. It's intimidating as hell to hear it coming at you through the woods blasting heavy rock. Definitely makes you wanna find a hidey hole.

The problem with music is that everyone has their own style.

When I go to scenario games with defined themes I usually like to make an appropriate mixtape CD. If I get clearance from the people running the game, I bring it and a thrift store boombox onto the field when I first go out and stash it somewhere out of bounds near an important area and have it blast themed music. Being a longtime fan of theme parks, I feel like ambient music/audio is one side of the experience that game promoters really ought to spend more time on.

Some of the best stuff I've found are Youtube videos with actual propaganda/radio broadcasts from the time period, or even actual battle being represented in the game. Star Wars soundtracks worked out well too, as did period bluegrass/gospel music for a moonshine/revenuers game.

Never tried to tote it around with me once the game has started, though.
Wouldn't make much sense for a thematic point of view.
