I wonder if promoting the event on his social media pages was part of the contract.

I'm starting to smell an event that went sideways and a crappy producer that tried to save face by blaming it on one of the generals. .. then conning the ford report to publish the cover story.

here is a hypothetical for you:

A field owner contracts an unknown event producer to promote and produce event.

The producer puts info on his fb and web page, maybe the field fb, but does no actual work to promote the event.

Time tick by and no one pre-registers because the producer did no actual work to promote the event.

The owner gets bent and starts to raise hell at producer for the low pre-reg numbers.

The producer blames the general for not promoting the event the producer was hired to promote.

The general walks into the event and gets blind sided and tells them both where to stick it and walks.

The ford report covers the story.

That's a whole lot of conspiracy theories!
I think it is much more likely that the headcase ninja general bailed.

did you read the ford article?

Not everyone is cut out to General game. Believe it or not, it takes a certain skill set – a willingness to commit wholeheartedly to the event. Committing means promoting the game whether through friendly “trash talk” with the opposing General and teams or posting pictures of the field or game poster on various social networks; you get the information out as much as possible. It means recruiting players to come out and play – through emails, phone calls, post on social networks – your job is to get players to the event. A good General must – above all else – MUST meet these requirements. - See more at: http://thefordreport.com/2013/06/not....rqEUXoPl.dpuf

and is this is the field's attempt to promote their events

http://battlegroundz.net/specialevents.htm

thats pretty ... non-existant.

Meh. You want to write an article calling someone out, have the balls to name them. I'm pretty sure a couple Google searches would figure out who was supposed to general at LL and didn't show. That article read like one of those long Facebook rants about how, 'I am SO done with guys and the next time you think about CHEATING you can *blah blah blah.*'

I think the initial rant about about a different event.

my point is : It is not the generals' jobs to get players to the events. That is the job of the producer and the field.

Well, it ought to be spelled out either way what is expected up front. I've never thought that it was a general's job to promote the event, but then I've never general'd or XO'd a scenario.
