Why I like Mechs.

And no,

It's not because they work when dirty or wet; because they work without ever a thought about a re-charge or carrying a battery on the field; because they are simpler to work on; etc.

It's because I was at work today... thinking about my Palmers 3-way coming in the mail today for my Auto-Cocker...

Now this is a large tear-down, something that will take an hour or more to accomplish (including re-timing)... I'm thorough so I'll probably take the time to do some extra cleaning while I'm in there anyway so more like 2 hours.

This is when it hit me... I couldn't wait to get home to perform a tedious, arguably archaically un-needed ritual...

Despite this, I realized how much I enjoy working on the thing!

And the Autococker is one of the more 'mechy' of Mechs.

But here I sit, beer in hand, about to tear down and re-build my Mech yet again, with a fond appreciation and joy in what is to come.

I've come to like the time invested working on this gun as I used to enjoy giving my motorcycle an oil change - something about doing your own handi-work makes you feel more intimately connected to the equipment.

And that I love.

Just Sayin'

I'm with you man. Love to tinker with my cockers. My primary is a series 5 that I have turned into my baby. I however have a major problem. My cockers are currently perfect and I have nothing to mess around with.

I enjoy having guns that are simple to work on can shoot in any weather possible and can just take a beating if needed. So I can feel where you're coming from on your love for mechs. I personally love my eNMEy and my mags. Things are just beasts and wonderfully fun to shoot. Same goes for pumps. I just find electros have no soul all around. That and having to buy batteries for both marker and hopper gets tiresome. I love being able to grab a gun throw a tank and hopper on it load up some pods and go play. With that said I also love pumps for this reason.

Pump is my favorite way to play but when I do bring out my semis they are all mechs. I literally own one electro and I've only shot it twice since I bought it a couple years ago.

I love that I can grab parts from Clippard or Norgren or Camozzi, and try all sorts of new things.

It's awesome.

I love mech Cockers, they have some sort of intrinsic mechanical perfection that bridges the gap between man and machine. I have always been one of those "Cocker guys" but now I have a Mag for my mech

This is where I was, so I sold my last two perfectly timed and 100% reliable cockers, so I could find something new to tinker with. I really miss both those markers though.

I have to agree with the electro thing. I bought a brand new JOLE V3 when they came out. I loved the milling and was so excited to try it. It just had such a horrible feel I only played with it one time, hung it on the wall for almost a year and offed it at a horrible loss. I have tried a few other electors, but just straight out don't like them.

That's what's great about today...

All my 'dream-guns' of yesteryear (like Mag RT's and such) are dimes on the dollar...

I'm keeping my eyes out to add a mag to the collection...

Too bad Tom Kayes out of business... WGP too...

Thank god palmers still kicking around!! I've already tore down and replaced the orings in my stabilizer and rock, and now a new 3 way!
