I disagree on the VM simply because it is so easy to improve them from being horrid to merely being okay. my go to VM right now has a vert tank setup with an expansion chamber and I have no problem getting 1k shots off of a 20oz tank

stock, yeah, well, not so great. but the 68special was worse - stock for stock

just sayin

See, it's that 'improve' word that's the problem.

Anything can be improved. My last VM was super-efficient. By VM standards, that is. And it also underwent a bazillion mods on it to get it that way. But come on. Even then it was still horrible. When you have factory setups to run two tanks, and can easily run three and four tanks, and need to just to make it through a few games, well. Not so efficient.

I'm surprised by your claim of the 68 special, but admit to having no real experience with them. Tippies have obviously never been legendary for efficiency, but are by no means the worst offenders. Certainly the Pro-Ams and up were 'reasonably' efficient, light years beyond the VM.

So this is rather a surprise. What kind of mileage are we talking?

lol i have one of those sitting on my bed; i concur! maybe 14 shots or so per 12 gram. i want to try to get a good 20; i think with a regulator and underboring the barrel (among other tweaks) it's possible.

Yeah, a stock tuned sheridan used to run about 12 to 15 shots per 12g. That was back when paint was relatively fat. I got that out of an F-1 Illustrator.

I guess a poorly tuned autococker would be pretty bad.

Funny that nobody gives any actual numbers to go by.

I remember that the early PMI3, Golden Eagle and 68-SPecial would get around 400-450 shots per 20oz. The PMI3 could double that with a good expansion system, but the 68-special ran a siphon, so we would just have lots of ready-to-go 20oz tanks.

Back then 400 shots were not really enough for a game, so 32 and 40oz tanks became very popular, typically run on remote

THe 2nd gen guns like the F1, Z, Proam would typically get 700 or so. By the mid 90s 1000/20oz was the norm.

Does anyone have similar stats on the Vector/Rainmaker/Shocker? It might help get it into perspective.
