Let us laugh at the follies of my youth

So I was rooting through my closet for packing to go to college and I found my grade 9 science project.

I took 4 guns with 9 inch stock barrels, clamped them in a vice, and took 5 shots at a chunk of cardboard 20 feet away. I then measured the distance between the two shots farthest apart, and the marker with the shortest distance won as most accurate. I ran the test 3 times for each gun and took an average.

I borrowed guns from my friends to use with mine for the test, and I found that the most accurate gun was a JT Tac 5 , the second was a PCS US 5 , the third was a 98 Custom , and the least accurate was a Viewloader Orion.

Oh man, everybody should go buy a Tac 5 now! My test proves they are the best!

And I wanted to make sure my air source was as consistent as possible, so I got my 20 oz filled before I ran the tests.

All this happened when I was very new to the sport, and had never heard of MCB before. In fact, I wasn't even 'on the net' and I didn't have an email address.

The funniest thing is that I legitimately thought that my cousin's Tac 5 was killer accurate at the time.

I know better know, and I still think it is amazing that my current pistol can outshoot all those 'rifles.'

Did PCS sell a lot in Canada? Their markers seemed like kind of a non-starter here in the US but I've heard from players in France that they were more common there than Tippmanns for a few years.

They did not take off here at all. The reason there are so many in my city (two or three come up on local classifieds a week) Is because one of the two main paintball stores had an affiliation with Kee, so they pushed PMI stuff. The year after I bought my US 5 is when PCS went under, and then the store was trying to blow out their old stock for cheap, so tons of greenies were grabbing them up. Maybe for some people they were fine, but they were very cheaply made in my opinion, and it was the gun to have if you wanted double feeds.

At least you clamped them in a vice, more helpful than most youtube shooting videos.

But really a place where you can loosen your tie... We'll see what happens. I figure that with the right set of people to begin with, we could have a good forum.

Otherwise it could go right down the drain...

So we'll see.

All that aside, you did a pretty good job for 9th grade. You took what measures you believed were appropriate to limit bias and inconsistencies in your testing. I'm sure that was what your teacher was really looking at, and not the actual results.

I kind of had to do a good job... I went to a private school where 74 was a fail. I actually had a really hard time with this project, because my teacher didn't understand the point of it. She is familiar with real steel (she is from Tennessee), but I had to explain how paintball markers don't always hit where you are aiming. Doing that at the beginning of my oral presentation sure took up some time I didn't have anything else to fill with!
