If only I had a spare $1300 to pledge. I'd seriously love to have one of these, so many projects!

If you look at the past project 3d printers are on there every other day.

Seems like just a slightly modified Mendel Max. The only thing this has going for it is print size. But the standard Mendel Max design is easily scalable already. This doesn't come with a heated build surface, so you're limited to PLA. There aren't any off-the-shelf heated beds that large. They are typically 200mm x 200mm. You would need 4 of them for this build platform. This would require huge power consumption. Also adds weight to the bed which will limit your print speed.

I haven't come across anything that I've wanted to print that won't fit on my 200mm x 200mm build surface. Overall, I don't think the price is too bad for what you are getting. But you can build a more sensible printer for less.

Beware any project using 3D printed parts for production purposes.
He posts videos of himself on Youtube never leaving the furthest back bunker.
Even when playing against rental noobs, he is immobilized.
Logic and reason are anathema to him; but this does not deter him from prattling on.
He is the most interesting player in the world.
