Agreed. I rather have them buy it at the local paintball shop where they are taught proper safety guidelines.

Same reason I wouldn't buy reptiles from Petsmart. (Improper living conditions*)

At this point, there are a lot more Wal-Marts out there than paintball stores.

A lot of people credit the big box stores' carrying gear in the late '90s for the explosive growth the sport enjoyed then.

More people credit the box stores for being part of the rapid decline of the sport shortly afterwards. Stuff started being made overseas, the gear was disposable junk, and the sports' money left the country.

It still bugs me these toys aren't sold with a mask in the package.

Things didnt start to taper off until 05 or 06.
Personally I blame cheap, ramping, fast guns like the ion, the proliferation of airball to the exclusion of all other formats, and the industry's fixation on marketing only to teenage males for the dropoff, or rather, lack of new player retention. The rise of airsoft and video game consoles which facilitated easy online gaming made matters worse.

Looking at the big picture, it's hard to blame Wal-Mart's carrying the Brass Eagle avenger for the hobby's decline.

Personally I blame the decline on our extreme sport getting TOO extreme for the masses. Paintball guns in Walmart had nothing to do with the decline in my opinion.

For acting as an agent in the business interest of JT what am I, and the rest of us, going to be compensated?

Sorry... no.
