Is this Mask safe for paintball?

Just browsing amazon and came across this little guy:

Uvex S8510 Bionic Shield, Black Matte Face Shield, Clear Polycarbonate Anti-Fog/Hardcoat Lens - Amazon.com

which makes me wonder...is this safe for paintball? Interested because I like to have a bit of Unique flair at the field, and this mask could meet some future cosplay idea's i have. Some kind of future space marine or something...

according to the products description it meets:
ANSI Z87.1-2003 and (High Impact) and CSA Z94.3 standards.

Not sure if this is translatable to paintball.

Even if it meets ASTM high-impact, be aware that since 1997 there has been a separate ASTM standard specifically for paintball use, currently revised as ASTM F1776 - 12.

At the very least, because this design does not fully seal the eyes from the entrance of paintball fragments from below during an impact to the chest, it would fail F1776.

No, they are not safe for paintball. Or at least they have not been certified to meet the proper paintball mask safety specifications. Those are standards for shop goggles, American and Canadian.

look just underneath the product where it says "frequently bought together". people are buying a separate pair of goggles with it. whether they wear both at once or not, I do not know, but it definitely makes me stop and think.

It plainly says "Face Shield Offers Secondary Protection And Must Be Worn With Spectacles Or Goggles" just above see more product details. So I couldn't imagine it being safe at all for paintball.

Buy it, go home, crank your paintball gun up to 400 fps, and see if it can take the beating!

I have done this with an SGE-150 gas mask - the same mask I have been using for a little over a year now. It has no ear protection, so I sewed some leather squares to cover my ears. I feel more safe than I ever did in a paintball mask that could fall off my face at any time due to the poor quality straps involved.

I have been shot in the ear with the leather squares, and with a regular paintball mask (JT entry level).

The paintball mask caused more damage to my hearing due to letting the fill enter my ear and creating ridiculous pressures due to the non-compressible fluids travelling at high speed.

tl;dr: SGE-150 gas mask works awesome, paintball masks need some serious safety revamps.

Also whether it'll take the hits or not will your field let you use it.

Looks not for Paintball. Plus you'll get ton of fog in there once you are up and about...For a cheap option look at Avanti goggles or get something of better quality but I wouldn't recommend this one
