Handmade leather 12 gram holder

Well, I got bored today and wanted to start making neat things to bring with me to Living Legends 7, so I thought it would be cool to make some leather gear. I plan on making a bandoleer for both 10 rd tubes and 12ies, but needed some practice things so I made this.

I started with a cardboard pattern I drew up.

Then transferred to a thick piece of scrap leather I had.

Then I measured and marked a strap to hold the 12ies.

I used an awl to make some holes (we havent bought a sewing machine yet) and started to sew it together.

Finished sewing then made the back to attach to a belt.

I glued it together then finished sewing the edges. All I have left to do is buy some neetsfoot oil and oil it.

What do you guys think?

Looks nice. My only concern would be the straps for the 12 grams stretching over time and not holding them in.

Thanks guys. I will see how it wears and then look at maybe putting some elastic strap in the loop to help hold on future ones. Thank you for the observation.

What flounder said, i made a belt for 12is and 10 rounders a couple years ago and it stretched. If i were to make another one i would put elastic behind the leather straps to prevent it from stretching

That might be a possiblity depending on the date. One of my winter projects is to buy a new stock and convert my kp2 to a lever action.

I just made a 10 rd tube holder with elastic under the leather loops, works better. Not sure if I want to make it an armband or another belt slide.

If they loosen up, you can soak the straps in warm water and dry it with a hairdryer. This will tighten up the leather some!
