THE thing I like about pumps

Hey, I'm lazy and don't want to fiddle with anything between my trigger finger and having a ball on target. I'd usually rather have an automag.

Then I wonder why I even have a fair share of pumps. I haven't read anything in the pump threads that present a reason for me to shoot a pump (other than a "pump game"). It's the feel of pushing the ball into the barrel. Now there's nothing left but a sear and a spring loaded hammer. Not only that, but it sounds better coming out of a brass barrel that is at least 8 inches long.

This is why I like bore drop, don't really like autotriggers (can't feel anything when you're wailing away), and don't care much about most other pump "issues" like regs and stock class feeds. Not that I don't mess with it all on occasion, but squeezing that particular ball in the barrel for the next target is all I really care about. Pump mags have their pluses, but they cheat me out of my favorite part.

Boo for small paint!

That's one of the last domains for closed bolt (pump) guns -- knowing for certain that your round is chambered properly prior to firing it.

This minor point makes a difference when you've got unusual paint. Like a certain shaped projectile that is notoriously difficult to feed right. You don't want to know that it didn't feed correctly just as you try to fire it -- a little early warning is nice so you can fix it before you fire.

Even when playing against rental noobs, he is immobilized.
Logic and reason are anathema to him; but this does not deter him from prattling on.
