A plea to Tippmann-please re release the SMG68!

Originally posted on PBN,figured I'd add it here at MCB also
Mods please move this if it's not appropriate for this thread

So with the rise in interest if magfed guns and milsim think it's time Tippmann released their own magfed series if guns.Considering alot of magfeds out there are Tippmann conversions it makes sense
To my knowledge the SMG was the 1st clipfed paintball gun produced by a major manufacturer, arguably the 1st milsim also.If you've never seen one in action I can tell you they were WAY ahead of their time, they're savage beasts,ROF was unmatched untill ramping electros were made.It was compact, light and maneuverable(for the time it was light),definitely put the pucker factor on the opposing team
I would love to see this iconic gun reborn with some modern updates and see magfeds made with Tippmanns durability, warranty, and customer service

I think it would be awesome to see a re release of an iconic gun like the smg 68 if they could somehow make it with an integrated clip catcher I think they'd have a winner. Rt systems eat your heart out. Only issue I can see is they would need a high flow valve and a very good tank reg to keep up

Just posted on their Facebook also, hoping to get a positive reaction from them and players
Imagine this with modern upgrades like the XVR\Phenom valve,it's already First Strike compatible too

I love seeing my photos in random threads.

Not being sarcastic... I really do. I took that photo probably 10 years ago or more.

Here's my SMG-60 on the same rug

It was my "office" back at the old house and before it was turned into the baby's room. Pre-kid days. Woa.. My daughter is going to be 10 in December. So yea, these are old photos.

Oh and on a random note, I have a SMG-68 direct feed port and fits into those guns banging around somewhere in one of my bins.

So the gun can be made to be magazine fed, or direct feed. Not sure if it's a one off or prototype as I've never seen another direct feed smg-68 piece. But it makes a special run more viable and sustainable if you can do both.

Has anyone ever tried to sew a slew of clips together and get one to work as a belt fed marker? I can see a box mag with one side to feed and another to catch the expelled belt.

That's it... I've done it! Mag fed is too mainstream now. Belt fed is the way of the future!

Painthappy: I figured it would find it's own set of rules... really.... Not intended for people to post a place with porn links left and right...

But really a place where you can loosen your tie... We'll see what happens. I figure that with the right set of people to begin with, we could have a good forum.

Otherwise it could go right down the drain...

So we'll see.

Tippmann would never make this. they are looking towards the future not to the past. IMO, if they were to rerelease the SMG as is, it would never happen. the cost for the injection molding would be in the $100,000s for the clips alone. then add in trying to get the CVX valve(at the minimum) into the gun, as well as any of the other newer tech that has followed into the Tippmann line.

its a cool novelty, but not one that would be cost effective to make nor sell.
