"Paintballer" coffee table book.

Anyone read this? Sounds interesting but it's a little too expensive for me to buy it on a whim.

It's not bad actually. Lots of awesome pictures, but very tournament oriented. Good look at the tournament side throughout the years regardless.

Sort of the last gasp from Facefull. Rich Telford wrote all the text and did not gave an editor, which made for painful reading. I made the mistake of buying the Kindle edition, which has low resolution photos.

I've looked through it, and nothing really caught my eye as being spectacular. The naked picture was particularly disturbing.

Pics are great. Proof reading is awful. Springing to mind, they misspelled Tom Kaye's name. Hopefully, the sequel(s) cover the 80's and 90's better. I got it on sale for $30 and am happy with the purchase. It's actually my daughters favorite bedtime story.

Well, I just make up the story and she drools contently before passing out. Whatever works is awesome by me.

$60 new?? I'd rather make my own book! Even $30 is steep.

Public libraries have spoiled us.

I thought about putting one together when I was still covering scenarios with some other products but ran out of money and couldn't get enough interest to justify the publishing cost. That and scenario seems to have flat lined in the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes region so I lost interest in covering paintball. If there's genuine interest I might go back into production. Might make for a respectable Kickstarter fund.

I was thinking more along the lines of making a single, personal copy. Like uploading a bunch of personal photos, or just photos you like, to Shutterfly or something, and make your own book. Maybe order extras as gifts.

A book takes a lot of images. I tried to offer that as a service to teams and groups but getting that many images is a challenge unless your servicing just one group. Teams that bring along their own "photographer", take their own pictures or compile the images from years of play might be able to get a decent book but the best books out there have an image pool in the thousands unless its a purpose built book ( ie travel, local...) and even then the pool to generate the book needs to be deep and really high quality. A flip book or soft book might be a good option, you usually only need 25 photos for those and can be thin or a decent scrap book.
