I usually take about 50 with me for a normal day of recball:

I own two HPA tanks (both 45/45). One to use per day and the other is either a loaner or becomes the back-up when the first one has to go on vacation to the hydrotester for a couple weeks. I use to have more, one of each size (68, 88, 13) but I never used them.

I have a 68/45 for my primary and if that dies then I have 88/45 as back up but its just normally a tester tank to make sure my toys work before a game. I have a 13/3000 I use for my phantom and other smaller markers as well so I don't need the massive 68ci tank on a phantom per say. If you have enough tanks to support your marker then you are good but otherwise two is plenty.

I have a 3.5oz tank I got from a phantom as well...its less then 2" in diameters so I don't know if its good...either way those are pretty cool.

if you have guns that need specific outputs or guns that require specific tanks, then if you are using that one gun, you need that one tank.

overall, i bring 2-4 68/45s with me, plus a 45/45. the nice thing is that i can setup a couple different guns, if i want to use one but chrono/test a couple others, or even loan out a gun or 2. if i wanted to travel light, then maybe 2, or at least one tank that can go on all my guns.

but i never know what i want to use during the day, or what wants to work, so i like to have options.

Depends on your situation. If you play primarily with one setup at a field with free air than one is really all you need. If you play a lot of backyard ball than a few extras don't hurt. But this is MCB, no such thing as excessive...

I think you came to the wrong place to pose the question: "how many is too many".

Have you seen MCB members' collections?

Paintball in general....

Over on that other site there's guys with 20+ masks, and I can't even confirm that they have one head.

Any more than 6 in-hydro and twice that number out of hydro is probably excessive.

Here in PA the temperatures can get down fairly low at times so in the winter I like to have 2-3 per gun I use.

Well it depends on the day, but usually I take the Sherman and the Sturmgeschütz III. I'll probably take the T-60 next time--I just got it and I need to break in the 20mm TNSh.

It's too bad the Tiger II is in the shop....
