Took the Automag out for the first time.

So, big game at Sudden Impact, Funks Grove, IL. this past weekend. Great day of paintball. Even took out the Automag for the first time. She chrono'd right at 287 on the first shot. Was feeling great about it. Then she started blending paint. Didn't go through much paint as it was a huge woodsball day, but most of it was sprayed out of the barrel.

After awhile I started thinking, maybe it's my VLocity forcing too much paint at one time. So, I cleaned out my barrel and slapped on my Revvy. She did better, but still not great. Guess it's time to start looking for a Lvl 10 bolt kit.

Make sure you're using one of the newer plastic detents.
Also, it didn't happen to be the GI Sports banana paint you were using, was it? That stuff is as brittle as Ultra Evil and would be awful in a Mag.

Make sure you don't have an old power feed plug. They can do that to you. Usually not with a force feed though.

Good advice above.

Also, don't forget good trigger control. You need to fully release the trigger after each shot.

But with the L10, your blending problems should be a thing of the past.

Couldn't tell you when the last time I broke paint was.

Oh, wait, it was before the L10.

Definitely work on the trigger control end, and also maybe look at the bolt shoulder/face. Some of the L7 bolts had sharp shoulders that nicked the next ball in the stack and caused real problems before they figured out what it was, and gave the mag its rep for blending.

But either way, you'll be plenty happy with the L10.

^^^Make sure you do check the detent though. Even a lvl 10 won't fix multi-feeds. The bolt usually stays clean, but you are left wondering how you get so many barrel breaks when you are over-boring.

I am still using the wire detents. And yes, it was GI Sports banana scented paint. Kind of eerie how you got that.

I did have to pull the plug out of my Spyder Compact. Didn't think this would cause so much issue.

That is 100% the problem, stop right there and cease all other mods b/c they are unneeded. This paint was breaking in everybody's barrels at SPE the weekend before, and this is with guns that are extremely easy on paint (Snipers). It is the most fragile paint I've ever used and seeped badly at the seams.

it's not one with just a flat face is it? if it is i'd ditch it and get a parabolic feed plug. although, i haven't had issues with the older style plug, but i don't really lay on the trigger all too much either. it's only five bucks from ansgear; maybe grab one if you need to get something from them anyway (like a parts kit!).

I'll take a closer look at it tonight. If need be I'll add one to my order from ANS
