For those not tired of Oil Slick finishes yet...

I had been wanting a UL'd PM7 for a while but I just couldn't justify $650 PLUS $250 for the frame. Fortunatly some of the limited PM's dropped in price after WC. So here it is. Thought I'd share.

Looks great. I wonder what process they use, the Dye guns look differnt from the old Planet Eclipse aurora guns. The color seems darker in the Dye guns, while the PE guns seemed lighter and had more of a gold color to them.

The dyes/proto's oil slick is NOT aurora. It just looks like it. They never claimed it was either. PE was bs'ing about their success rate, i doubt anyone believes they went through THAT much ego's to get 5 aurora guns. ODD pb can do it though for $300 I think.

the new aurora from PE does not look like their old aurora either, I don't buy they use the same process, i think it, the dye mehode and the popular pbn methods are all the same and not the original process. they simply don't have the same appearance. whether PE exagerated the original aurora's success rate or not, i wouldn't be suprised, but considering how popular it proved, its ogd it took em this long to come back to it.....

I thought somebody on PBN quoted ODD's price for Aurora at $2000...

The Dye version definitely looks different but it's still sexy. Unfortunately I refuse to own a marker I won't shoot and those are far too pretty to shoot IMHO.

Most of the people on PBN are using the titanium vapor-plate method, which is similar, but not the same as the old. The PE method combined the titanium vapor-plate, and a titanium anno, over a nickel base. The titanium annodizing was what caused the problems.

Some are powder coating with a Chromaflair paint, which also does a similar effect as well. You are subject to the limitations of powdercoating, but its probobly the cheapest, and easiest method.
Infor on Chromaflair paint
